![]() ![]() The steps below are instructions for downloading the recording from Zoom onto your computer. Using editing software on your own computer is outside of the scope of this support document. You will need to download your recording from Zoom in order to be able to edit it offline. The campus provides licenses to Adobe Premiere and Camtasia to faculty and staff. If you need to make more extensive edits, or trim out portions of the middle of the recording, you will need to edit offline using video editing software. Stanford recommends using Panopto to record a lecture or upload recorded lectures onto Canvas. Many professors record lectures for students to watch before synchronous meetings. Meeting participants are unable to save the chat unless they have separately recorded the meeting. Messages written in Breakout Rooms, or sent privately to another participant will not be saved. The chat will also be saved to the cloud, though only messages sent to the main room to everyone will be recorded. Ask students in advance to let you know if they are concerned.The Save Captions feature allows you and your participants to save closed captions of your event. You can also modify cloud recording management settings for hosts, such as automatic recording, require a passcode to view cloud recordings, and set a deletion period for cloud recordings. By default, this setting is automatically enabled for all paid subscribers. Send an announcement to the class via Canvas letting them know that you plan to record some or all of these sessions and whether you plan on posting the recordings within Canvas.
